Seven Preliminary Round matches will be played in May, with the winners advancing to the Quarter-Final stage of the competition. The seven winners from the Preliminary Round will be joined by defending champions Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the Quarter-Finals, which will be contested as a two-match, home-and-away series in July.

The competition will begin on Tuesday 5 May with an all-Ontario matchup between eight-time Canadian Championship winners Toronto FC and the reigning Canadian Premier League champions Atlético Ottawa.

On Wednesday 6 May, five-time Canadian Championship winners CF Montréal will host first-time participants Calgary Blizzard SC at Stade Saputo in Montréal. Then on Friday night, 8 May, expansion side FC Supra du Québec will host Woodbridge Strikers SC, another first-time participant in the Championship.

The two all-CPL clashes will kick off on Saturday 9 May, as Forge FC host Halifax Wanderers FC in Hamilton and Pacific FC host Cavalry FC on Vancouver Island. This marks the first time since 2021 that Preliminary Round matches will be played over the weekend.

The Preliminary Round will culminate on Sunday 10 May with a pair of inter-league matchups. First, Inter Toronto FC will host CS Saint-Laurent at York Lions Stadium in Toronto. Then, a unique British Columbia derby featuring Vancouver FC and debutant Langley United will be played at Willoughby Community Park, incidentally the home pitch to both clubs.Unnamed
