CanMNT to host October friendly vs. Australia in Montréal

The Canadian men's national team announced their latest high-profile friendly on Thursday night, revealing that they will host world #26 Australia on Friday, October 10 in Montréal.
The match, to be played at Stade Saputo, kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on OneSoccer.
Canada last played Australia on October 15, 2013, a 3-0 loss in a friendly. Their only competitive match against the Socceroos came in 1993, when Australia eliminated Canada from World Cup qualifying in a penalty shootout in the intercontinental playoffs. Canada's all-time record against Australia, dating back to a first international meeting on June 7, 1924 in Brisbane, is 3-1-5.
Australia recently secured their spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a sixth consecutive appearance at the global tournament. They reached the knockout stage at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, before losing 2-1 to eventual champions Argentina in the round of 16.
The Canadian men's national team has not played in Montréal since 2017, when a 15-year-old Alphonso Davies made his national team debut in a 2-1 victory over Curaçao prior to that year's Gold Cup tournament.
Four days following the match against Australia, Canada take on 15th-ranked Colombia at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey on October 14. Canada are also scheduled to take on Romania and Wales in September in those respective countries.
