Canada to face Brazil in FIFA Women's U-17 World Cup quarters after dominant win vs. Zambia

The Canadian women’s U-17 national team continued their impressive run at the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Qatar on Wednesday with a 6-0 victory over Zambia in the round of 16. 

Melisa Kekić opened the scoring, Daniela Feria-Estrada had a brace, while Amy Medley, Mya Angus and Chloe Taylor found the back of the net as well. 

Canada advance to take on Brazil in the quarter-final, on Saturday, November 1 (11:30 a.m. ET / 8:30 a.m. PT). They are perfect through four matches at the competition, topping Group D with wins over Nigeria (4-1), Samoa (6-0) and France (2-1). 

Brazil, meanwhile, beat China 3-0 in their round of 16 match after finishing second in Group A. They have never advanced past the quarter-final stage at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. Canada, meanwhile, have done so just once in 2018, when they finished fourth. 

With 18 goals scored through four matches, Canada have already doubled their best output at a U-17 Women’s World Cup (seven, in 2018, 2014) and scored more goals than their past three World Cup appearances combined.
