CanMNT Form Guide 🇨🇦 Kone scores (again), Larin on fire at Southampton & a new rising talent emerges 👀
With most of the top women’s national team players in camp in Brazil for FIFA Series action, picking up a 4-0 victory over Zambia, it was a CanMNT-heavy news week for Canadian players.
There were some big debuts, another rising talent and plenty more to note across the past seven days as the 2026 World Cup is now less than 60 days away.

Here is a look at all the notable news from this past week:
Cyle Larin is in top form for Southampton
The Canadian men’s national team’s second all-time leading goalscorer is back at his best since moving to the English Championship with Southampton.
On Tuesday, he scored his fifth goal in all competitions for the Saints since joining them in January on an incredible individual effort in a 5-1 win over Wrexham.
Southampton are now five points into a playoff spot in the Championship, as well as in the FA Cup semifinal, and a big part of that has been the play of their Canadian striker.
Ouanda is one to watch
It is still probably a little bit before he fully comes into the senior national team conversation, but Adonija Ouanda is having an outstanding first season in the Czech top flight.
The 20-year-old winger scored his third of the season for Slovako, who he joined in January on loan from Slavia Prague, with a well-placed finish against Hradec Kralove.
Having already spent time in Serbia, where he had six goals and five assists with Voždovac in the second tier, he is taking another clear step forward this year at a very solid level.
In other news…
Kosi Thompson scored a brace in his Colorado debut, a 6-2 victory over the Houston Dynamo.
Tani Oluwaseyi started and picked up an assist against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. Tajon Buchanan also started and went 78 minutes in a 2-1 Villarreal victory.
Mathieu Choinière had a pair of assists for LAFC on Tuesday in their dominant 3-0 victory over Cruz Azul in the Concacaf Champions Cup. He then started, but played just 47 minutes in LAFC’s 2-1 loss to Portland this weekend. Jacob Shaffelburg came off the bench in the 69th minute for LAFC.
Not ONE but TWO ASSISTS for CanMNT 🇨🇦 midfielder Mathieu Choiniere as LAFC take a 2-0 lead over Cruz Azul in the #ConcaChampions quarter-finals 😎✌️
